Grand Strand Chamber president, Mark McBride
Thursday, the board of directors of the newly formed Grand Strand Chamber "unanimously agreed Mark McBride has their full confidence as President of the Grand Strand Chamber of Commerce," according to a news release.
The board had said its meeting was scheduled at 2:00pm, but then held the closed meeting at 9:00am Thursday.
Earlier this week, Shepherd told NewsChannel 15 that McBride would mostly likely be voted out, but Wednesday announced an intent to "work things out" with McBride.
NewsChannel 15 spoke to McBride on Tuesday, after he learned it was possible he would lose his position as president. At the time, McBride said the riff stemmed from growing pains between him and the board and that he expected a vote of confidence on Thursday to remain president.
In the news release, Mark McBride is quoted as saying, "You can mark this up as growing pains that everyone encounters when starting a new business. We are eager to continue our mission of supporting the small business owners and their employees along the Grand Strand. We look forward to working together to achieve these goals."
The current Board of Directors include: Ward Shepherd, Founder; Jim Smith, Chairman of the Board; Mark McBride, President; and Founding Board Members Chris Mitchell and Bob Baxby.
