Governor Mark Sanford's office sent letters to the Dillon County Election Commissioners, requesting proof of certification after NewsChannel 15 broke last week that not none of the commissioners is certified.

State law requires county election commissioners to complete a program of classes within 18 months of being appointed. According to the SC Election Commission, none of the 5 commissioners in Dillon County had done so.

In the letter obtained by NewsChannel 15, the commissioners are told if the governor's office does not receive a letter from them by September 25th, providing an explanation of the number and type of classes taken, the governor will begin the process to remove them from office.

We'll keep you posted.
