(AP) -- An economist has told a South Carolina gathering the recession is over, but it will be a long time before the recovery is evident.
The Herald of Rock Hill reported that Wells Fargo senior economist Mark Vitner told a gathering at Winthrop University on Tuesday there will no tangible evidence of the recovery until the middle of next year.
Vitner says it will be mid-2010 before businesses resume normal hiring and consumers become more confident in their spending. He says it appears the economy is about to get a little bit better. But he says it would be foolish to think it will get a whole lot better now.
