Driving to work this morning, you may have noticed flags flying over several overpasses in Horry County.  In what has become an annual tradition, people wanting to commemorate this day hold American flags on the overpass.  The flags start waving at 8:46am, the time the first plane hit the first World Trade Center tower.  The flags will stop flying at 10:05am when the last plane crashed in Shanksville, PA.

Cars driving by honk their horns in a show of support.

We'll be posting local 9/11 events throughout the day here on CarolinaLive.com.  Join us tonight on NewsChannel 15 at 6, 7, and 11 for complete coverage of the day's events both here at home and across the nation.
