When we received an e-mail from a viewer questioning the legality of a Myrtle Beach city councilman's campaign sign, we checked into it and found the sign is in violation.

Councilman Wayne Gray said he had a friend put a sign up on Pine Island Road over the weekend. It's on a piece of property off Robert Grissom Parkway in Myrtle Beach, but it's technically in the county.

In Horry County, campaign signs aren't allowed up until 45 days prior to an election. The election's not until November third.

Councilman Gray said it is a simple misunderstanding, and he said the sign will be down by Thursday at 5:00pm.
