NewsChannel 15 has learned that none of the 5 members of the Dillon County election commission are certified as called for by state law, according to the state election commission. Some of the members have been on the Dillon County Election Commission since the 1980's.
It is unclear right now why the commissioners haven't taken the necessary classes and training to receive and then maintain their certifications. We're told a series of classes is necessary to fulfill the requirements.
State law calls for commissioners to be removed if they haven't received their certification within 18 months of being appointed, unless granted an extension by the governor.
Officials with the voter registration office in Dillon County say to their knowledge none, of the current commissioners have been granted an extension by the governor.
