The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is suing "Elmer Fudd," at least the person using that screen name to post what the chamber calls blatant lies.
Last week, several comments appeared on the discussion boards of a local newspaper's website, saying the Horry County Sheriff's Office had raided the chamber office and confiscated computers.
MB Area Chamber of Commerce President Brad Dean told NewsChannel 15 last week the comments were untrue and that no such raid ever occurred.
The chamber has received a number of calls about the comments, prompting them to file suit against the person who posted the comments.
Attorney Cherie Blackburn, with Nexsen Pruet, tells NewsChannel 15 the suit was filed Friday against "Elmer Fudd."
She says once they learn the true identity of the person who posted the comments, they'll amend the lawsuit with that person's name.
