According to Darlington County Schools spokeswoman Audrey Childers, Hartsville High School assistant football coach and social studies teacher, Rick Ostrander, was arrested last month for solicitation for prostitution.

Childers says Ostrander immediately resigned from his coaching and teaching duties before classes began for the year.

Ostrander was a 30-year coaching veteran who served as the team's defensive coordinator. He had been at Hartsville High School for one year.

"Coach Ostrander's resignation brought an appropriate resolution to an unfortunate situation," said Dr. Charlie Burry, principal of Hartsville High School. "We were able to hire an outstanding social studies teacher to fill Coach Ostrander's classroom vacancy and our current coaching staff absorbed his coaching responsibilities."
