LITCHFIELD, S.C. (AP) -- A maritime archaeologist is holding a series of talks on ancient seafarers and ships that were lost at sea.

Beginning Tuesday, maritime archaeologist Cheryl Ward is leading brown bag discussions at Coastal Carolina University's Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield.

The sessions are free and open to the public. Ward specializes in studying ancient ships and is working to establish Coastal Carolina University's new Center for Archaeology and Anthropology.

The school says she was recently involved in rebuilding an ancient ship and sailing it on the Red Sea, a project that will be featured on PBS next year.
