The SC Employment Security Commission said Friday the state's jobless rate has actually gone down.
In July, it was 11.8 percent. One county in our area is still second highest in the state.
Marlboro County has the second highest unemployment in the state at 21.7 percent.
Marion's rate was down, and is now 21.3 percent.
Dillon County's unemployment has gone up, and is now 17.8 percent.
Darlington County's unemployment is down now to 13.7 percent.
Georgetown County's unemployment is down to 12.2 percent.
Florence County is down to 11.7 percent and Horry County's unemployment rate is down now to 10.4 percent.
The decline in the state rate is the first decline since January 2008.
South Carolina's 11.8 percent is higher than the national rate in July of 9.4 percent.
South Carolina has the 6th highest rate in the nation.
