The school day ended early for some students who showed flu-like symptoms at school. Several students at Timrod Elementary in Florence were sent home Monday, as well as one student attending Wilson High School.

Parents at both schools received a letter encouraging them to consult a physician or health care provider and to keep their children home if they exhibit flu-like symptoms.

School officials at Florence District One schools will also receive a letter from the state Department of Health and Environmental Control talking about preventing the flu.
