CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint is in South Carolina for a town hall meeting on health care.
The senator discusses the issue at the Daniel Island Neighborhood Association in Charleston on Monday. He also meets with reporters and then will discuss the same issue at a Rotary Club meeting.
During recent weeks, some health care forums around the country have degenerated into shouting matches as people debate the issue.
DeMint spokesman Ryan Murphy says it's not surprising that people are passionate about the issue. She says DeMint favors a program to make health care affordable but without a government takeover.
