A Florence program that's been around for 12 years may get the necessary funding to keep its doors open.

The Weed and Seed Safe Haven holds summer sessions and after school programs for kids to keep them off the street and out of trouble.

Officials with Weed and Seed say they've been hit hard this year by budget cuts.

This week, they appealed to Florence City Council members for financial help.

Weed and Seed officials say city officials have indicated that they are strongly going to consider helping them out.
