A Murrells Inlet restaurant is closed after an overnight fire that started in the kitchen.
The fire was reported shortly after midnight at the New York Diner, near the Inlet Square Mall.
Firefighters say a passerby noticed flames coming out of the building and called 911.
The diner doesn't have a sprinkler system and isn't required to, but state fire marshals officials say just one sprinkler could have prevented the fire from causing serious damage.
