Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says a 13 year old girl who was pulled from the ocean in a rescue on July 22nd, has now died.
Edge says 13 year old Moeneshia L. Whitted of Hillsboro, NC was pronounced dead Tuesday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Whitted was airlifted there after getting into trouble in the ocean.
She was walking in the surf collecting shells with an 11 year old girl, when the two were knocked down by a wave and swept away. it happened in Myrtle Beach in the area of 17th Avenue North.
A man who was swimming nearby pulled both girls out of the water.
The 11 year old was OK.
