Saturday night in Murrells Inlet, U.S. POW Bowe Bergdahl was honored at a candle light vigil. Bergdahl is the latest U.S. POW and folks gathered at American Legion Post 178 in his name.
Bergdahl -- an Idaho native -- was last seen leaving his military base in southeastern Afghanistan on June 30th. It was later learned he was captured by the Taliban. They released, what U.S. Officials have dubbed, "propaganda" video in July, where Bergdahl is seen dressed in traditional Afghan clothing, talking about his family back in Idaho.
Bergdahl's condition is unknown, but Saturday in Murrells Inlet, he was remembered.
"This is our way of showing the country and the community that we care about them and we want them to never forget that we haven't," said Bob Duncan, director of the post.
"They'll get the feeling over there and they'll know. It also makes the government aware that the public is watching, so they put forth a full effort to bring this man home to us. It will also let the troops know that we are supporting them," said Bill DeVaughn, Vice President of Rolling Thunder, South Carolina chapter three.
