Myrtle Beach police have arrested Matthew Scott Miller and charged him with voluntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, in connection with a shooting Wednesday night in the parking lot of a McDonald's Restaurant on Oleander Drive.
Police say when they arrived at the scene, 38 year old Ross Christopher Vigeant of Summerville, SC was suffering from a gunshot wound. Vigeant was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say Vigeant had gotten into an argument with Miller in the drive-thru. They say Miller wanted Vigeant to move his vehicle, which he eventually did. Police say then Miller approached the car and the two continued to argue which lead to Vigeant punching Miller. Witnesses told police a few minutes later they heard a "pop" and saw Miller leave the scene and Vigeant stumble and collapse.
Myrtle Beach police say while they were on scene, a witness called 9-1-1 and gave dispatch a description of the suspect's vehicle, which led investigators to Miller's apartment, where they say they located a 9mm pistol.
