Atlantic Beach Mayor Retha Pierce
A judge on Tuesday gave Atlantic Beach Mayor Retha Pierce a little more time before heading to trial on a trespassing charge.
Pierce was in Horry County Central Jury Court Tuesday morning for what was to be the start of a trial proceeding.
Instead, Pierce asked for, and was granted, a continuation on her trial.
In January, Atlantic Beach police arrested Pierce at town hall after a dispute among town officials.
She was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct.
Pierce didn't have too much to say Tuesday morning to reporters, but she did mention that she's happy with the judge's decision.
"Well naturally (I am) because I achieved what I set out to achieve: time to continue to work on my case," said Mayor Pierce.
Judge Livingston continued Pierce's trial until sometime in August.
