After scrapping its budget a few weeks ago Atlantic Beach is meeting again Monday night to try to get a sound financial footing.
When the numbers are all laid out the town still faces a deficit and it's still not passed a budget for this current fiscal year.
A breakdown of the budget shows costs outweigh projected revenue by about $30,000. So the key is trying to balance the budget.
A new town manager is in place. He used to work for Dupont corporation and is used to getting books in order.
In Atlantic Beach that can be a challenge, there has not been an audit of the town for years but that is in the process.
The manager, William Booker, says the town must cut costs, manage expenses and look to places where they can make money.
Atlantic Beach is still tied up in several lawsuits which has drained a lot of resources. The town has outstanding judgements but on the flip side there's a lot of money owed to this town.
For instance we pulled the delinquent property taxes in Atlantic Beach and when you total all of it up from 2008 there's $173,000 that has not been collected.
The town is banking on getting that collected and has projected $150,000 in revenue from those delinquent taxes.
As one council member put it "It's like a little jackpot that could help the town get out of the red".
