A judge has made a decision on whether a megadump landfill can locate in Marlboro County, but officials with the South Carolina Administrative Law Court tell us the ruling will be announced next week when the parties involved receive their copies.

Last year, DHEC granted the company, MMR, a demonstration of need. That means a landfill is needed in the area. Marlboro County council members sued DHEC on grounds the agency didn't properly assess the need.

Next Thursday, July 23rd, council will hold a public forum on the ruling at the Marlboro County Courthouse in Bennettsville at 6:00pm.
