Jawara Legette of Excalibur Security was honored for bravery Tuesday at the Myrtle Beach City Council meeting.
Legette was on duty at "Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum" on July 1st, when a man started slamming his car into other cars in an attempt to shake off an officer hanging onto the car door.
The officer had tried to stop the driver of the car, when the driver took off with the officer still hanging on.
Legette jumped through the window of the locked passenger door, threw the car in park and pulled the keys out of the ignition.
Legette says, "A lot of security officers aren't recognized for the things that they do. They just get up to go to work and do it again every single day. For once, somebody noticed, anybody would have done it like I said before, and I'll say it again, anybody would have done it."
The officer who was dragged suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the car, Clark Tuttle, was arrested.
Tuttle faces charges of assault and battery with intent to kill, resisting arrest and drunk driving.
