A Darlington man who was one of the oldest our area, and possibly the world, has died.
Richard Washington's obituary lists him as 116 years old.
He will be buried Friday in Darlington.
He died Tuesday in a Florence hospital after an illness.
Washington was born in Sumter County and was a member of the Palmetto Baptist Church.
If his age could have been verified, it would have made him the oldest person in the world.
