Many of you have called or commented on CarolinaLive.com about a story we ran Monday regarding a Florence company that is looking to bring 3,000 jobs to the area.
You've expressed doubts in the legitimacy of the jobs, and $40 assessment test fee you have to pay as part of the application process.
Tuesday, NewsChannel 15 were out digging for answers about the Smosska Corporation of Florence.
Officials with the Department of Commerce said it is a common practice for some companies to charge applicants for an assessment test, although some companies will waive the fee.
This week, officials with Smosska are allowing people to fill out applications for the jobs.
An online business profile says the company is based in Florence and currently employs between 10 to 20 people, with yearly sales between $1 million and $5 million dollars.
The company is involved in the hospital and medical service plans industry and makes computerized cards that contain a patient's entire medical history.
Smosska's CEO and President, Michelle "MJ" Adams says she plans to run her operation out of a building on Range Way in Florence.
She plans to hire 400 workers in the coming weeks.
NewsChannel 15 checked with the Better Business Bureau and they haven't received any complaints on Smosska in South Carolina or any other states.
Officials with the Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments say they have been contacted by Adams about the first 400 jobs.
Wednesday, the company's CEO will meet with Florence County economic development officials.
Adams left a comment on CarolinaLive.com about the jobs saying, "It's ok to think the way you think it is just that we want to give back to Florence."
She also offered to answer concerns individually.
