Saturday, Surfside Beach held its first Sun Fun Super Saturday.
Several food vendors set up shop, and big inflatable slides were put out for the children.
Mayor Allen Deaton says this is a chance for Surfside Beach to show tourists it's a family-friendly vacation destination.
"We have the houses, as opposed to the motels. We have large beach areas. We cater to large families, family reunions, things of that nature. We have park systems, water slides. We have everything a family would want to come to. It's just unique for the Grand Strand," said Mayor Deaton.
The mayor says Sun Fun Super Saturday will be an annual tradition.
Along the Grand Strand, Sun Fun activities continue throughout the summer, including a summer concert series.
