A suspected scam artist, who police say conned several merchants in the Pee Dee, has been caught in North Carolina.

Stephen Claude Dunn is accused of scamming several businesses in Darlington and Dillon Counties.

Police say Dunn walked into the stores pretending to be a manager from Walmart and told the clerk he was delivering gift cards for the owner of the store.

Investigators say he then asked the clerk to pay for the gift cards out of the register, so he could get back to work.

No word on when Dunn will be brought back to the Pee Dee to face the charges.
