On May 27, 2009, officers with the Horry County Police Department's Uniform Patrol Division responded to Bayberry Dr. in the Little River area in reference to an assault on a child. When they got there, they learned from the victim's mother that the child had been assaulted the previous day.
The mom told police that on May 26th, she looked out the back window where her daughter was playing in the back yard, and observed a black man in the yard. When she confronted the man, he said he was looking for his three little girls. He then left.
The next day the woman saw bruises on her daughter's waist and asked where they came from. The daughter told her mom that the man in the back yard picked her up, and that is where she got the bruises.
The case is currently under investigation, but police say at this point, it appears to be an isolated incident, and the man has not been seen in the area since the incident.
The Horry County Police Department would like to remind everyone to keep a close eye on your children at all times, and to report anything suspicious to your local law enforcement agency.
The suspect in this incident is described as a black man, approximately 5'10", weighing approximately 210 pounds, and speaking with a Jamaican accent. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact the Horry County Police Department at 843-915-5350.
