The South Carolina Highway Patrol says one of their own died Wednesday morning in house fire at his home.
Highway Patrol says Senior Trooper Andrew C. McInville, 26, died around 1 a.m. after a fire at his Timmonsville home, located on Country Lane Road.
"Senior Trooper McInville's sudden death is a shock to all of us," said SCDPS Director Mark Keel in a news release. "The entire Department of Public Safety mourns the loss of this young trooper. We will be reaching out to his family and his fellow troopers and will support them in every way possible."
Senior Trooper McInville was a native of Timmonsville. He was assigned to Troop One, Kershaw/Lee counties, Post B. He came on the Highway Patrol in 2007 with Basic Class 85.
The fire is under investigation by the Florence County Sheriff's Office.
The Highway Patrol will release memorial information at the wishes of S/Tpr. McInville's family.
"This is a very sad day for the Highway Patrol," said Highway Patrol Colonel Kenny Lancaster Jr in the news release. "Senior Trooper McInville was a young trooper who had just been with us for a couple of years. To lose him in such a tragic and unexpected way will be very difficult for his fellow troopers. Our thoughts, prayers and support are with his family at this time."
