A Pee Dee beauty queen is doing her part to help those in need. Hali Larkins organized a soup kitchen at her church Saturday to feed the hungry.

The teenager is Miss Society Hill under the Miss America organization. Her platform is to help the homeless and disadvantaged, so she asked a few friends and relatives to help her organize a soup kitchen at Trinity United Methodist Church.

"This is amazing opportunity I love helping and serving the community and this created an opportunity for me to do that," said Hali.

Larkins says she's always wanted to help the homeless after coming face to face with a homeless man on a school field trip several years ago.
