Election officials have overturned the mayoral election results in the Marlboro County town of McColl, following a protest hearing by one of the candidates.

This past Tuesday, Ray Grier challenged incumbent Mayor Gary Quick for mayor of McColl.

After two recounts, Quick held off his challenger by just one vote.

Grier appealed the results of the election saying several people who live outside the town limits of McColl were allowed to vote.

Grier presented his case Saturday to the McColl Municipal Election Commission and they overturned the election.

A new election will be scheduled, but first there will be ten days to appeal the commission's decision.
