(AP) -- A former South Carolina fire department captain has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting three girls.
The State reported former Columbia fire captain Brian Gambrell of Winnsboro was sentenced Wednesday.
Prosecutors say Gambrell pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of exposure of private parts in a lewd manner. Prosecutors say the assaults occurred in 1996 and last summer. The victims were ages 9, 10 and 15.
Gambrell had been arrested in September. He had been with the Columbia Fire Department for 14 years.
