Twelve schools in the Carolina Forest and North Myrtle Beach attendance areas were closed on Friday, April 24 due to wildfires.
The make-up day for schools that were closed on April 24 will be Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day) for both students and staff.
May 25 was scheduled as one of three make-up days on the 2008-2009 calendar and is the only make-up day available at this time.
The make-up day applies to Carolina Forest Elementary School, Waccamaw Elementary School, Black Water Middle School, Carolina Forest High School, Ocean Bay Elementary School, Ocean Bay Middle School, Academy for Arts, Science and Technology, North Myrtle Beach Primary School, North Myrtle Beach Elementary School, North Myrtle Beach Intermediate, North Myrtle Beach Middle School, and North Myrtle Beach High School.
Additionally, District schools will not have early dismissal on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, as has been the practice in recent years.
