A local school welcomed someone from the national stage to their church Sunday. The Christian Academy of Myrlte Beach welcomed Chris Sligh, a former finalist on the TV show "American Idol."
Sligh, who has taken to contemporary Christian music since his days on "American Idol," performed at the Christ United Methodist Church.
The former Idol contestant told to NewsChannel 15 that it's a natural for him to transition into Christian music, as he "grew up in church."
Sligh added, "My dad was a Christian Missionary pretty much my whole life, and I was a music pastor and a worship pastor, so this is where my roots are and to come back to it feels great."
The christian academy say the concert was free in the hopes it would up-lift the spirits of the community during the tough economic times.
