A Florence County man died in a house fire Thursday morning, and his wife is being treated at a Georgia burn center.

The mobile home on Friendfield Road went up in flames just after 9:15 Thursday morning.

Officials tell us a deputy rescued a woman but was unable to save her husband.

Coroner Bubba Matthews said 80-year-old Willie James Gaymon died from severe burns.

We talked with a neighbor about what she saw. "Whenever I pulled up to the driveway, I saw the flames coming up from the house and it was already burned pretty good," said Katie Royall.

Crews have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
