Alligator sightings may prompt officials to declare swimming off limits at a Pee Dee lake.

Marlboro County officials have posted signs at the entrance to Lake Paul Wallace in Bennettsville warning residents of alligators.

There have been several sightings of gators there this year and that concerns county council members.

Next week, they will meet to decide if they will allow swimming at the lake this summer.
