As the sour economy drags on, its effects continue rippling through every day life as more and more people find it hard to make ends meet.
The numbers don't lie. Hundreds of people lined up at the Community Center in Atlantic Beach Saturday for what's becoming a monthly food and services giveaway.
The North Strand Helping Hand, Barefoot Church, and the group Celebrate Recovery put together the generous event.
People who came out were able to take home boxes of food, toiletries, and other household items. There were also medical staffers and barbers on hand.
One lady we spoke with said it's been one of the biggest blessings of her life.
"I was not sure about dinner tonight but now I'm sure because hey, it's here. They've been a big blessing for me. I did not know what I was going to cook, but I know now," said Queenie Crawford of Little River.
The groups hosting say they want to keep offering the event every month beginning in May.
