Wounded vets to be treated in Columbia

Columbia will soon be a city that treats wounded U.S. veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Officials say more than 3,300 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans have been treated in South Carolina VA clinics in the past year, those numbers are expected to rise as more veterans return home.

The Federal Government has pledged to build a new $3 million center in Columbia at the dorn VA medical center, offering primary health services.

Construction on the 10,000 square foot center is expected to begin in the fall.
