After six hours of rigorous debating, Florence City Council has deferred taking any action on changing their election process.

They were discussing whether a referendum should be held, allowing voters to decide if city council and mayoral candidates should run non-partisan.

Right now, city elections are partisan and have been for years.

After hours of argument, council deferred making a decision until their meeting Monday.
