Horry County is a step closer to requiring that all trash in the county must be dumped at county-owned landfills.
Last night, county council passed the flow control ordinance on second reading.
Right now, private haulers have the option of taking their trash to landfills in other counties.
They say flow control would put them out of business.
But supporters say the county is losing millions from trash dumped elsewhere.
The ordinance needs a third reading to become law. The next vote is scheduled for March 17th.
