Lancaster County Sheriff's Major David Belk says two girls, believed to have been abducted by their father, have been found safe at a Lancaster apartment complex.
Authorities said they believe 29-year-old Gerardo Reyes-Campos took 1-year-old Destiny and 3-year-old Melanie to the complex shortly after leaving the family's Lancaster home.
Thursday night, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division issued Amber Alerts after they say Reyes-Campos stabbed his common-law wife, Diane Madisol Trejo, in the neck and hands during a fight around 6 pm Thursday.
Authorities say Reyes-Campos then took Destiny and Melanie.
Police say the children's mother was flown to a Columbia hospital, and was in critical but stable condition.
Details about who the children were left with have not been released.
We are also waiting to find out where they're searching for Reyes-Campos, as he is not in custody.
Police had thought he was in a tan 1992 Isuzu Rodeo SC # BJD-238.
The State Law Enforcement Division released Gerardo Reyes' arrest record Friday morning.
It shows he has been arrested for drinking and driving, criminal domestic violence and drug charges.
