Police say someone is stealing tailgates off of pickup trucks.

Myrtle Beach police say at least four tailgates have been removed from pickup trucks within the city over the past week or so.

Police believe the tailgates are being sold as parts or scrap metal.

Officers say about the only things truck owners can do to prevent the thefts is park in garages or well-lit areas or install alarm devices on their trucks.
