A nine year old girl is recovering after being attacked by a rabid coyote while waiting at her school bus stop in the upstate.

The attack happened in Pacolet, in Spartanburg County.

Ashton Crowe says she was able to run to safety while neighbors captured the animal.

A 16 year old teen held the coyote while his grandfather and shot the animal.

The coyote later tested positive for rabies, now crowe and the 16 year old will need several rabies shots over the next three weeks.

While the nine year old suffered some leg wounds and severe damage to her toe, she's expected to be ok.
