State Department of Transportation maintenance crews are out and about Wednesday, putting down salt on icy highways throughout the Grand Strand and Pee Dee.
"We're concentrating on the high rise bridges on major routes," said Randy Graham, Horry County's maintenance engineer for the DOT.
Graham said he's hoping roads will dry out later in the day, but he'll continue to monitor conditions Wednesday night and Thursday morning and will send salt trucks out as needed.
He said the DOT crews are following their routine salting plan for now, but will respond to any trouble spots reported by the Highway Patrol or called in from the public.
