Wednesday, January 28th marks a somber anniversary. It's been 23 years since the Challenger exploded, killing everyone on board, including a Florence County man.
On January 28th, 1986, the country watched in horror as the shuttle broke apart in the skies on live television.
Seven crew members were killed, including Lake City native and astronaut Ron McNair.
A poorly designed seal in the solid rocket booster brought the shuttle down.
Lake City is holding a candlelight vigil for McNair to mark the anniversary.
