(AP) -- A stand-off with a former Columbia police officer and authorities at a Georgia motel has ended with an infant placed in an ambulance and the suspect taken away in a police car.

A man wearing body armor came out of the motel off Interstate 20 around 9:30 a.m. and put the infant into an ambulance.

Moments later, the man believed to be the suspect was taken away.

Authorities say 25-year-old David Dietz kidnapped the infant and two women Saturday night in West Columbia.

Shots were fired during the kidnapping.

Authorities say Dietz was wearing a black uniform with "police" written on the back and on his sleeves.

It's wasn't immediately clear where Dietz' estranged wife, 29-year-old Eva Arce-Perez and 17-year-old Jamie Lynn Burgess were as the stand-off ended.
