Police in Lee County have confirmed for NewsChannel 15 that a hostage situation that started at Lee Correctional in Bishopville this afternoon has ended peacefully.
Officials say it began around 2:30 Monday afternoon when an inmate began holding a corrections employee hostage.
Around 4:30pm, prison officials say that inmate surrendered and released the employee without harming the employee.
The employee is being checked out by medical personnel.
