The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a helicopter crash in Williamsburg County that sent two men to the hospital on Thursday.

Authorities say the chopper crashed in a field near Haddock's Flying Services, in Salters around 2:45 p.m. Christmas Day.

Williamsburg County Assistant Fire Chief Randy Swinton said the men were on a private helicopter and reported mechanical problems just before hitting the ground.

Authorities say one man was flown to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in serious condition. The other man was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. But officials say both men are expected to be okay.
