Starting at midnight on Friday, South Carolina waived the sales tax on handguns and weapons for it's first ever Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday.
The 48-hour tax break on firearm purchases continues through midnight on Saturday.
In June, over the objection of Gov. Mark Sanford, lawmakers approved the Second Amendment Recognition Act.
Most gun and pawn shop owners say business has been non-stop.
"It's already one of the busiest days of retail being the day after Thanksgiving, adding the sales tax incentive, it's been nothing but busy," said Robert Battista, owner of 707 Gun Shop.
The tax break does not apply to ammunition, or antique and collectible handguns.
