Kids usually get more excited during the holidays, with a lot going on, including new toys for sale. But crowded stores can be dangerous for them.

If you take children shopping with you, police say you should keep them in your sight, or by your side, at all times. They wander easily and child predators usually strike when kids are alone.

Police say it's also helpful to have a special password with your child, to ensure that they don't go off with a stranger who claims to be sent by you.
