It is not a protest, but Strengthening Florence Families does plan to file a complaint with the State Election Commission regarding the Sunday alcohol sales referendum.

The group's spokesman, attorney Gary Finklea, held a news conference Thursday afternoon.

He said on Tuesday a man was illegally passing out cards at the doorway to the Poynter and Sandhurst precincts asking people to vote yes.

It is legal to give out information to voters, but you have to be 200 feet away from the polling place. Finklea says he has proof that was not the case.

"We do believe in the sanctity of the process, and we will make sure that it's preserved whether it helps us or hurts us because that's what voting is all about," said Finklea.

Finklea says they will ask the election commission to call in the state law enforcement division to investigate their complaint.
