A Sumter man police say shot and killed a 12-year-old trick-or-treater will remain in jail until his trial.
T.J. Darrisaw's parents could not hold back the tears as the man accused of shooting their son went before a judge Monday afternoon to have his bond denied.
Police say, on Halloween night, 22-year-old Quentin Patrick fired 29 rounds from an AK-47 from inside his home.
T.J., his father, and two brothers were trying to trick-or-treat at the home when he, his 9-year-old brother, and dad were hit by bullets.
Police say Patrick gave no motive, but said he has been shot before and was not going to be shot again.
Patrick's girlfriend, Ericka Pee, who police say was in the home at the time, is charged with obstruction of justice. Her bond was set at $300,000.
Police say they are still investigating and the two may face more charges.
As for the victim's family, they are left to mark T.J.'s upcoming 13th birthday, and the holidays, without him.
